City Arts New Townhomes, Baltimore, MD
The new City Arts Townhomes were the third phase of a $17 million investment from ReBuild Metro in the larger City Arts development. The 7 modern, colorful homes were completed in 2013. These single-family homes feature hardwood floors, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, artists’ lofts, and top floor decks. Rear yards include off-street parking for each home. This was the first development within the City Arts project to offer homeownership opportunities.
ReBuild Metro co-developed the first phase of City Arts with Homes for America and Jubilee Baltimore to create the 69-unit City Arts Apartments building. The project, seen in the background of the above photograph, redeveloped much of a vacant block into quality affordable housing designed to serve local artists in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District.
The second phase of the development, in the foreground of the photo, a renovation of 9 historic, two-bedroom rental homes is bringing new life to the neighborhood. The homes, which are part of the City of Baltimore Commission for Historical & Architectural Preservation program, feature stained glass front door transoms and distinctive iron flower boxes created by artisans.
