Project Description
City Arts Historic Townhomes, Baltimore, MD
In 2012, ReBuild Metro completed rehabilitation of 9 vacant rowhomes for rental occupancy in the 400 block of East Oliver Street in Baltimore’s Greenmount West neighborhood. The homes were part of ReBuild Metro’s $17 million investment in the larger City Arts development.
These historic homes represent the second phase of the City Arts development. They are energy-efficient, two-bedroom rental homes, which are already bringing new life to the neighborhood. The homes, which are part of the City of Baltimore Commission for Historical & Architectural Preservation program, feature stained glass front door transoms and distinctive iron flower boxes created by artisans. Private backyard patios incorporate pervious pavers to reduce stormwater run-off.
ReBuild Metro co-developed the first phase of City Arts with Homes for America and Jubilee Baltimore, to create the 69-unit City Arts Apartments building. The project redeveloped part of a vacant block into quality affordable housing designed to serve local artists in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District.
